There was a revision of boundaries with North Ockendon, which had been part of Orsett Rural District, absorbed into Cranham and a small area to the north, near Great Warley, transferred to Brentwood Urban District.
The remaining area was transferred to Hornchurch Urban District which in 1965 was transferred to Greater London to form part of the London Borough of Havering.
The following year, on 30 January 1951, he was raised to the peerage as Baron Macpherson of Drumochter, of Great Warley in the County of Essex.
