Edward Almer

He transferred the family seat from Almer to Pant Iocyn (now Pant-yr-Ochain), a house he rebuilt between Gresford and Wrexham using materials salvaged from his previous home.

Edward Almer or Aylmer (by 1516-1574 or later), of Denbigh and Gresford, Denbighshire, was a Welsh politician.

Gresford

At this time the bishopric was transferred from that of St. Werburgh's Chester to St. Asaph, and the vicars of the village were Welsh with patronymic names (for example, Morud ap Gwarius, who became vicar in 1284).

The altar is likely to depict Nemesis; this and the unearthing of a Roman coin hoard nearby-dating 150-300, is possible evidence of a settlement.

Henry Brand, 1st Viscount Hampden

He descended, almost directly, from Colonel John Hampden, the patriot; his forebear Sir John Trevor III (1624-72) of Plas Teg, son of Sir John Trevor II of Plas Teg and Trevalun, by Anne daughter of Sir Edmund Hampden of Wendover, had married John Hampden's daughter Ruth, who was his first cousin.
