In the late 1950s and 60s Dougan participated in, then led a Gurdjieff group that came under the direction of CS Nott.
The Fraternidade Rosacruciana São Paulo ("The Saint Paul Rosicrucian Fellowship" - note that "Saint Paul" is a reference to Paul of Tarsus, not to the Brazilian city) is a Christian Rosicrucian esoteric school founded in 1929 by Lourival Camargo Pereira, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, based on the Max Heindel, Eliphas Levi, Gurdjieff,Pëtr Dem'ǐanovič Uspenskiǐ and Maurice Nicoll teachings.
It was then led by Dr. William J. Welch until his death in 1999, after which it was led jointly by Paul Reynard, a painter and teacher of Gurdjieff Movements, and Frank R. Sinclair, author of Without Benefit of Clergy and Of the Life Aligned, until Reynard's death in 2005.
In December 1949, together with Henriette H. Lannes, Jane Heap she initiated the startup of an organization, which would eventually become the Gurdjieff Foundation, to continue the Gurdjieff Work.
Jackson also involved himself in music for the theatre, most notably in the music for the Yeats trilogy based on the Saga of Cuchulain, performed in the Noh style and directed by Hideo Kanze at the Abbey Theatre, and later in music to accompany the exercises of the Gurdjieff Movement.
John Zorn recorded an album of the same name inspired by the book and the teachings of Gurdjieff.
The second is in part a sequential biography, and was written near the end of his life; a significant dimension of its content is his very personal evaluation of the characters and contributions of Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, Madame Ouspensky, John G. Bennett (another direct disciple of Gurdjieff), Gerald Heard, Aldous Huxley, Timothy Leary, Stephen Gaskin, Alan Watts, Carlos Castaneda, and other figures serving as teachers of those engaged in spiritual quests.

Yakzan created a series of trainings or “intensives” that distilled the teachings of Oscar Ichazo of the Arica School and the principles of Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way in combination with the tenants of Sufism as derived from the work of Ibn 'Arabi, Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, and Murshid Samuel L. Lewis.
