As dawn broke and it became possible for those in other lifeboats to see them, Second Officer Lightoller (who was also on the collapsible, along with Wireless Operator Harold Bride) used his officer's whistle to attract the other boats' attention; eventually lifeboats Nos. 4 and 12 rowed over and took the remaining men off the overturned boat.
Harold Bride's recollection that the orchestra was playing "Autumn" as the Titanic foundered in 1912 has led to speculation by Walter Lord that he was in fact referring to Songe d'Automne, which was part of the repertory of the White Star Line orchestras and with which he would undoubtedly been familiar.
He was played by David McCallum in the 1958 film A Night to Remember, by Barry Pepper in the 1996 CBS-TV miniseries Titanic, by Craig Kelly in the 1997 film Titanic, and by Jake Swing in Thomas Lynskey's 2012 independent short film The Last Signals, a biographical drama about Bride.
