On the line between Handeloh and Soltau the HVV fare tariff is restricted to season tickets.

On its southern section between Langenhagen and Bennemühlen the Heath Railway is electrified and forms Line S 4 on the Hanover S-Bahn network.

The link from Langenhagen on the Heath Railway to Celle, also called the Hare Railway (Hasenbahn), which had been started in 1913, was not opened until 15 May 1938.
