Fraser served in municipal politics from 1984 and was Antigonish County Warden for Heatherton until his resignation in 1998, when he ran for the Liberal nomination for the electoral district of Antigonish.
The actual name of the suburb is Littleover and Heatherton Village is located at its southern most boundary approaching the A38 and Findern.
Heatherton has also conducted a great amount of research concerning the risk factors of Bulimia Nervosa, using the Eating Disorder Inventory.
