Helen Shapiro

Aged ten, Shapiro was a singer with "Susie and the Hula Hoops," (with her cousin, 60s singer, Susan Singer) a school band which included Marc Bolan (then using his real name of Mark Feld) as guitarist.

She appeared in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre in 1983 and during her stay in the area made a number of guest appearances at Bury Hebrew Congregation, Bury.
