The establishment of the Hereke Imperial Factory by Sultan Abdulmecid coincided with the construction of Dolmabahçe Palace, in Istanbul.
Hereke and Kirazlıyalı were towns with municipality until abolition of their municipalities in 2009 and were converted in quarters.
