Boğaziçi, Milas, a fishing village on the shore of Lake Tuzla, and site of the ancient city of Bargylia
Originally named simply the Theme of Mylasa, it was renamed after its seat moved from Mylasa (modern Milas) to the town of Melanoudion – as yet not conclusively identified, it lay south of Miletus – sometime in ca.
Boğaziçi is located only 10 minutes from Milas-Bodrum Airport and is home to the resort of Lakeside Garden which is the base for bird watchers who descend on the area to see Greater Flamingos flock to the protected Lake Tuzla during the winter months.
The site is situated at 9 kilometers distance from the Yatağan-Milas highway, served by an asphalt road bifurcating shortly after the Yatağan Thermal Power Plant when coming from Yatağan.
