Started in 1932 in Calcutta by R. L. Khemka, it went on to be a pioneer in producing films across four regional film industries, namely Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in the decade after its founding, till then production companies were restricted regionally.
This led to historical and mythological films which were the rage in Bollywood (Hindi cinema), working for noted films like Vijay Bhatt's Ram Rajya (1943), K. Asif's Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Anarkali (1953).
She married Rajib Biswas, an Assistant Director of Hindi films such as Yugpurush (1998) and Ghulam-E-Mustafa (1997).
The Inner and Outer World of Shahrukh Khan is the release title for a pair of documentaries about Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, both directed by the London-based writer and producer/director Nasreen Munni Kabir, an authority on Hindi cinema.
Armaan made his Hindi Cinema (Bollywood) debut in Nikhil Advani's Patiala House (2011) alongside veteran actors Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Akshay Kumar.
Her uncle Viju Khote (brother of her mother) is also a well-known actor in Hindi cinema.
