Hoppegarten is located close to the eastern suburbs of Berlin (Mahlsdorf, in the borough of Marzahn-Hellersdorf).
Kazzia began her career in September 2001 by winning a minor race at Hoppegarten.
In the year 2000, at the initiative of Ravindra Gujjula, an Indian born Mayor of Altlandsberg town, near Berlin organized an elephant race at Hoppegarten, which was very successful as more than 40,000 people witnessed the race.
The race was switched to Grunewald in 1918, and it returned to Hoppegarten in 1923.
On 24 March 2000, the Berlin research firm “Facts & Files” issued a press release which stated that Berlin historian and archivist Jörg Rudolph had found a collection of “Eichmann dossiers” in the former Nazi archives of the Ministry for State Security of communist East Germany, which had, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, been relocated to the German Federal Archives’ temporary archive in Hoppegarten near Berlin.
