Ad-Rock (born 1966), stage name of Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys
He brought the previously neglected Physics Department at Purdue University to prominence during his tenure there as department head from 1929 until his death in 1958.
Horovitz was born to Doris Horovitz (née Keefe) and playwright Israel Horovitz and raised in Manhattan, New York.
Later, Horovitz sums up his belief that al-Kumayt had conflicting poetry by saying, “al-Kumayt was capable of composing eulogies simultaneously to the 'Alids and the Umayyads.”
Rahmil "Emil" Yacovlevich Gorovets (in Russian Рахмиль Яковлевич Горовец) (born in Haisyn, Ukraine 10 June 1923 - died in New York on 17 August 2001) was a famous Soviet Ukrainian singer of Jewish origin, Gorovets standing for Horovitz in Russian.
