House of Hatzfeld

In 1418 the family inherited Wildenburg Castle near Friesenhagen, a Lordship with Imperial immediacy, from the Lords of Wildenburg.

The family is first mentioned in 1138 and has its ancestral seat in Hatzfeld.

Żmigród

In 1813, in the baroque palace of the House of Hatzfeld, there was a meeting of the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III of the Russian Tsar Alexander I, in which a protocol trachenberski (Żmigrodzki), whose goal was the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte.


Franz von Hatzfeld

Franz von Hatzfeld was born in Crottorf, near Friesenhagen, on September 13, 1596, the third son of Freiherr Sebastian von Hatzfeld-Wildenburg (1566-1631) and his wife Lucia von Sickingen (1569–1605), a granddaughter of Franz von Sickingen.
