1933 John H. Livingston crashed his Cessna CR-3 and flew "Mike" around the country as part of the Curtiss Candy Company "Baby Ruth" airshow team.

1934 National Air Races - Joe Jacobson purchased and flew "Pete" to one forth, and three fifth place finishes at 159mph.
The next year, Howard and his wife Maxine were injured when Mister Mulligan lost a propeller blade and crash-landed near Crownpoint, New Mexico during the latter stages of the 1936 Bendix (New York - Los Angeles) race.
The DGA-6's racing success brought the DGA series much attention, and in its various permutations, differentiated mainly by different powerplants, the DGAs -8, -9, -11, -12 (and later DGA-15) emerged as coveted aircraft, owned by corporations, wealthy individuals, and movie stars, such as Wallace Beery, who was himself a pilot.
