The main line of the Eastern Bengal Railway from Sealdah to Ranaghat, was opened in 1862 and extended the same year to Kushtia, now in Bangladesh.

It stands on the eastern side of the Jessore Road, National Highway 34, about 1 km from either Madhyamgram or Hridaypur railway station on Sealdah-Bongaon section.
