Bahía de Banderas

Bahía de Banderas (Banderas Bay) is also an important breeding and birthing ground for the Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae).

In 1781 he described scientifically the Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) under the name Balaena novaeangliae1 in Gemmeinnnüzige Naturgeschichte des Thierreichs.

Rūrutu

Because it is endowed with a fringing reef, Rūrutu has in recent years become known for whale watching: Humpback whales come and reproduce here between July and October within easy sighting distance from the beach.
