The town has a church dedicated to San Jacinto or Saint Hyacinth which houses the oldest church bell (Sancta Maria, 1595) in the far east.
He is not to be confused with the third-century martyr Hyacinth or the medieval Polish Dominican saint Hyacinth of Poland.
Pierogi may be the only Polish dish that seems to have its own patron saint.
