He is sometimes claimed as one of the pre-Patrician Saints, with Ciaran, Declan, and Ibar, but the annals note his death in 528 (i.e. after the death of Saint Patrick in 460).
In the reign of Grand Prince Uroš II, the site was known as Sečenica and was defended from the Byzantines from the newly built fortress at Galič, protecting the bridge over Ibar and the road to Ras.
The mountain marks the watershed of the drainage basins of the Ibar within the Danube drainage basin, the White Drin, and the Vardar.

For the tourist site of the monastery Gradac is important and its affiliation Ibar cultural tourist zone, where it apart and found monastery and: Žiča Studenica Old Pavlica, Nova Pavlica and Banjska Monastery.
Abduladhim Al Muhtadi Al Bahrani says in his book Ulama Al Bahrain Durus Wa Ibar (Arabic:علماء البحرين دروس و عبر) page 111 that a skilled author and scientist called Sayyid Abdullah Al Qarooni, who wrote Sharh Al Mughni, was from the village.
He found, among other examples, the Basque words "ibai" (river) and "ibar" (bottom) to repeat continuously in European rivers, or the word "haran" (valley) in toponyms such as Val d'Aran, Arendal, Arundel, Arnach, Arnsberg, Aresburg, Ahrensburg, Aranbach or Arnstein.
