Musically, several groups like Queensrÿche, Iron Maiden, Lord Bane, Tad Morose, Iced Earth, Crimson Glory, Fates Warning, King Crimson, Genesis and Savatage were once credited by the record label Locomotive as influential sources of inspiration for Anubis Gate.

Four tracks were mixed for shopping to labels, and Ion Vein finally returned to the stage in full form at Chicago Powerfest 2008, appearing once again, with Iced Earth to a packed house.
The featured guest list on A Lethal Dose of Truth includes Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat), Brendon Small (Dethklok), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), and Gene Hoglan (Testament), with nearly a dozen other current and former members of Iced Earth, Jag Panzer, Cynic, Helloween, Halford, Chimaira, Death, contributing as well.
The re-release contains the songs from the limited edition plus two new ones: one is a Judas Priest cover of "The Ripper", which had appeared on the limited edition release of The Dark Saga as a bonus track and on the Judas Priest tribute album A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. 2, and the other is a live version of "Colors" (from Iced Earth), a song that didn't make it on to the Alive in Athens album, due to tracklisting mixups.
On August 6, Barlow performed his farewell show with Iced Earth at the Wacken Open Air festival.
