In 2007, InterCityExpress trains working the Munich–Nuremberg–Leipzig–Berlin–Hamburg route run hourly between Bamberg and Lichtenfels.
Lying roughly 35 km east of Koblenz, halfway between the agglomerations of Frankfurt am Main and Cologne, Guckheim has at its disposal a good transport infrastructure with the new InterCityExpress stations in Montabaur and Limburg an der Lahn, the A 3 (Cologne–Frankfurt; interchange at Diez/Nentershausen) and Bundesstraßen 8 and 255, all found nearby.
Through the buslines of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund, the Westerburg-Limburg-Frankfurt and Westerburg-Altenkirchen-Cologne railway lines and the InterCityExpress stop in Montabaur, Kaden is linked to the long-distance transport network.
The line's grades of up to four percent require trains with a high power-to-weight ratio which is currently only met by third-generation InterCityExpress trains.
In addition to the national traffic, Liège-Guillemins station welcomes Thalys and ICE trains, connecting Liège to Brussels, Paris, Aachen, Cologne, and Frankfurt.
InterCityExpress services operate through the station every two hours between Berlin, Frankfurt and Basel and less frequently between Cologne, Frankfurt Airport and Basel.
