Josef Fendt

After his retirement from competitive luge, Fendt got active in the International Luge Federation (FIL), being named Vice-President Sport for Artificial Track in 1985, a position he stayed at until the death of FIL's first president Bert Isatitsch in February 1994.

After three runs, there were three East German racers Ortrun Enderlein, Anna-Maria Müller and Angela Knösel in the top 4, but were disqualified when the FIL determined that they had been heating their runners, a banned practice.

Margit Schumann

In 2004, Schumann was among the first three inductees into the International Luge Federation (FIL) Hall of Fame, along with Klaus Bonsack and Paul Hildgartner.
