In 1998, Cooley received a trophy at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for outstanding quality, and for earning an impressive reputation over time.
The first Chardonnay made by John Simes, who had just joined the winery, in the 1992 vintage won the trophy for "Best Chardonnay" at the 1994 International Wine and Spirit Competition, becoming the first Okanagan winery to receive significant overseas recognition.
The winery won four gold medals, seven silver medals and two bronze medals for its wines at the 1982 International Wine and Spirit Competition in England.
