Moodie played for Inverleith, MIM, Western Wildcats, Western Territory Stingers, Cannock and for Stirling University in BUSA (British University Championships).
The son and heir of Sir Francis Kinloch, 2nd Baronet, of Gilmerton, by his spouse Mary, daughter of David Leslie, 1st Lord Newark, he succeeded his father in 1699, and married circa 1705, Mary (d. 2 April 1749, Gilmerton House, East Lothian), daughter and co-heiress of Sir James Rocheid, Baronet, of Inverleith (d. after 1704).
It lies east of the Silvermills area and Stockbridge, south of Inverleith and west of Bellevue, in a low hollow north of Edinburgh's New Town on ground that was uneconomic to connect to the higher New Town street levels.
