In 1975 the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship was won by student/actor Talbot Perry Simons who performed in the stage production of "Lenny" written by Julian Barry about the life of comedian Lenny Bruce.
Although the national festival is intended to be the pinnacle of the collegiate theatre year and not necessarily a competition, there are a number of scholarships and awards presented throughout the week, including the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships.

In 1946, Comet Productions, a company established by Mary Pickford, her husband, Charles Rogers and Columbia executive Ralph Cohn, produced a 56-minute feature film, Little Iodine, starring Hobart Cavanaugh as Henry, Irene Ryan as Cora and Jo Ann Marlowe as Little Iodine.
Amongst the thousands of visitors to McRaven since it opened for tours in 1961, are Max Baer, Jr. and Irene Ryan of the sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies, who toured the house in the mid-1960s -- an autographed photo of them at the house hangs in the foyer of McRaven.
