The river flows from the lower northern part of Torfeno Branishte Nature Reserve on Vitosha Mountain, and passes by Kominite area; at the northern foothills of Vitosha the river crosses the village of Dragalevtsi (now part of Sofia, from which the river takes its name), then join few other minor rivers to form Slatinska River, and flow into Perlovska River which in turn flows into Iskar River in the northeastern outskirst of Sofia.

It is crossed from south to north by the rivers Iskar, Vit and Osam (in west-east order); the river valleys are separated by limestone plateaus.
He has led and it is named and scenic road in the foothills of Vitosha mountain - from Boyana, through Bistrica, Pancharevo and Kokalyane, locality of Prosechenik, to the mouth of the estuary river Vedena in Iskar - Yassenov King Road whereby "Urvich" establishes a permanent connection with Vitosha fortresses" of Bistrica and Battil - Boyana.
