In the 1996 general election the party was part of Italian Renewal and got eight seats at the Chamber of Deputies of Italy (Diego Masi, Giuseppe Bicocchi, Elisa Pozza Tasca, Gianni Rivera, Antonino Mangiacavallo, Gianantonio Mazzocchin, Bonaventura Lamacchia, Paolo Manca) and one seat at the Senate of the Italian Republic (Carla Mazzuca Poggiolini).
It was formed for the 2000 regional election by the local sections of three national parties: the Italian People's Party, The Democrats and Italian Renewal.
During the elections of 1996 he was elected by the majoritarian system in the constituency of Castiglione, under the coalition of The Olive Tree as a member of the Dini List - Italian Renewal, which was merged with The Pact.
