Bruno Neri (12 October 1910 – 10 July 1944) was an Italian footballer and World War II partisan.
At the outbreak of the Second World War he was in Italy and was interned, but after the Armistice of 1943 he was released and served for eleven months with the Italian Resistance.

After the Armistice with Italy of 8 September 1943, aged 21, Marcora entered the Italian resistance movement, with the nickname of Albertino, fighting in the province of Milan and the Ossola, and participating in the liberation of Milan on 25 April 1945.
The hymn's music was composed by his musician friend Alessio Olivieri, and proved hugely popular among Italians at home and abroad, famously being recorded by Enrico Caruso around the outbreak of World War I and again used as battle hymn of some brigades of the Italian resistance movement during World War II.
The party was originally founded in April 1921 and was re-organized after World War II by Emilio Lussu, secretary for Southern Italy of the Action Party during the war, and other veterans from the Sassari brigade, a social-democratic group of the Italian resistance movement.
