Founded in 1893 by Louis Bamberger as L. Bamberger & Company in Newark, New Jersey, in 1912 the company built its flagship store, designed by Jarvis Hunt, at 131 Market Street.
Designed by noted architect Jarvis Hunt, the building was completed in 1917 in a blend of Classical Revival and Federal Style trends.
He had a passion for golf and qualified for the 1904 Olympics Golf Team.
