The film stars Michael Angarano as the teenager, Jemaine Clement as the established novelist, and Sam Rockwell as the story's fictional title character who appears in book-come-to-life sequences.
In 2009 he directed Diagnosis: Death, a feature film starring Jemaine Clement, Bret McKenzie and Rhys Darby (of Flight of the Conchords fame).
After successfully completing 12 episodes with a total of 30 songs re-written in Spanish, Castillo and Valenzuela joined McKenzie and Jemaine Clement on their first LA show to performance at the El Rey Theater on July 11, 2007, where the Spanish Conchords sang "Think Think about" (Pien Piensa un Poco).
He was one half of the comedy duo The Humourbeasts with Jemaine Clement – recipients of New Zealand's highest comedy accolade, the Billy T Award, in 1999.
