Helli was also active on stage appearing in a touring production of Hair in 1974 and in the stage farce Pyjama Tops (circa 1973) where co-stars included Fiona Richmond, Jess Conrad and Lucienne Camille.
Between the late 1950s and mid-1960s Conrad appeared in a number of cult films, namely Serious Charge (uncredited), The Boys, Rag Doll, (filmed in 1960, and released in 1961); Kill 1 and Konga.

Moving to London, he worked as a drummer for Jess Conrad and then as a booker for John Sherry Artists, finding work for a number of prog-rock/college bands - including Wishbone Ash - and frequenting showcase venues such as the Speakeasy.
