Czech bluegrass

They all perform aspects of bluegrass drawn from work by American musicians of the early days of the genre, including Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and all the usual suspects.

Jimmy Martin

This band with Rudy Lyle (banjo) and Charlie Cline (fiddle) was one of the many high points of Monroe's career.

He joined producers Randall Franks and Alan Autry for the In the Heat of the Night (TV Series) cast CD “Christmas Time’s A Comin’” performing "Christmas Time's A Comin'" with the cast on the CD released on Sonlite and MGM/UA for one of the most popular Christmas releases of 1991 and 1992 with Southern retailers.

While picking his guitar, he was overheard by "Bluegrass Boys" banjo player Rudy Lyle who brought him forward and presented him to Monroe.

Thomas Edd Mayfield

On October 28, 1951, Mayfield made the first of his nineteen recordings with "Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Boys", but he left the group within a year and was replaced by Jimmy Martin.


Leroy Drumm

The duo began writing together in 1971 and since then their songs have been recorded by such notable artists as The Osborne Brothers,Bluegrass Cardinals, The Country Gentlemen, Doyle Lawson, Jimmy Martin, Larry Sparks, Josh Williams, Don Rigsby,The Eddie Adcock Band,Joe Mullins,Special Consensus, IIIrd Tyme Out, Hot Rize,Audie Blaylock and Lost & Found among others.

Lester Flatt

He created a role in the Bluegrass Boys later filled by the likes of Jimmy Martin, Mac Wiseman, Peter Rowan and Del McCoury.
