Even though he excels at the hard edge sound of many of the aforementioned artists, he’s also adept at working with the subtler sounds of artists such as Son Volt, The Kills, Thurston Moore, The Walkmen, and Five for Fighting.
The album was originally going to be produced by John Agnello but the band ended up opting for their previous producer Paco Loco.
Meade installed Kittens-obsessed Chicagoan Matt Johnson on bass and Eric Harmon on drums, promoted Trent Bell to lead guitarist, and the Kittens set to work on their third album, Pop Heiress, with A-list producer John Agnello.

'Amplified to Rock', the band's last release on Some Records, was produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Screaming Trees), who was impressed by the band after working with them on the interim EP the band recorded for Crank! Records in July 1999.
In 2007, the band recorded a second album, Hands Around The City, with producer John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Sonic Youth, The Walkmen) at Water Music Recorders in Hoboken, New Jersey.
In January, 2007 Knut, Tom and Chris traveled to the USA to mix the album together with John Agnello (who previously worked a lot with Dinosaur Jr., and just recently for Sonic Youth's last album Rather Ripped) at Water Music in Hoboken, New Jersey.
