The Scottish military surgeon, John Rollo, published Notes of a Diabetic Case in 1797.
These authors note that in the eighteenth century, John Rollo had observed that glycosuria in diabetics could be reduced if sufferers of diabetes mellitus reduced the quantity of their food consumed.
He died at Woolwich on 23 December 1809, and was buried at Plumstead.
