In 1960, as a student of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (FDUC), he created in Coimbra the Conjunto Orfeão, with José Niza, Proença de Carvalho and Rui Ressurreição.

After enrolling four times in the first study year of law at the University of Coimbra, Cid dropped out law and the city of Coimbra, and went to Lisbon in 1965 to attend the National Institute of Physical Education (INEF).
