A runner-up finish at the Kärnten Golf Open, where he had been the longtime leader, secured him full-time status at that level.
Günther won his first tournament on the Challenge Tour in 2009 at the Kärnten Golf Open.
He finished 42nd on that tour in his 2010 debut season, qualifying for the end-of-season Grand Final, and in 2011 picked up his first win at that level, at the Kärnten Golf Open.
