3 unusual facts about KXII

Atoka, Oklahoma

Atoka is served by several media outlets, including the Atoka County Times, published weekly on Wednesdays, 102.1 KHKC, a radio station headquartered on the county line between Atoka and Coal counties, and KXII and KTEN, television stations broadcasting from Sherman, Texas.

KXII

During the 1960s and early 1970s, most CBS programming was fed to cable subscribers in the Texoma area via affiliates in surrounding markets including KWTV in Oklahoma City, KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, and KRLD-TV (now KDFW-TV, currently a Fox owned-and-operated station) in Dallas-Fort Worth.

KXII-DT2

Prior to KXII-DT2's launch, the UPN affiliation in the Sherman-Ada market was available only through now-defunct low-power station KOKT-LP (channel 20); that station switched its affiliation to Univision in 2004 when it became one of four repeaters of KUOK in Woodward, which affiliated with the Spanish language network that year.
