The Asoka Barb (Systomus asoka) is a species of cyprinid endemic to Sri Lanka where it is found in the upper reaches of the Sitawaka River and its tributaries, and Kelani near Kitulgala.
The stream flows for 16 km down its valley before joining the Kelani Ganga near Hanwella.
Systomus pleurotaenia, the Side Striped Barb or Black lined barb, is a species of cyprinid fish endemic to Sri Lanka where it occurs in the catchment of the Kelani and Nilwala Rivers.
