The sculptures were put in place in the parishes of Kilmore, Belderg and Kilcommon Erris during 1993, the year of the Mayo 5000, celebrating 5,000 years of human habitation in the area.
Carrowmore Lake is situated in the parishes of Kiltane and Kilcommon Erris, County Mayo between the villages of Bangor Erris and Barnatra at the southern end of Broadhaven Bay.
Curreeny is in close proximity to Dolla, Templederry and Kilcommon villages and within reasonable driving distance from Limerick city, Nenagh, Thurles, Templemore, Tipperary, Newport and Cashel.
