At the end of the 15th century, the castle was received as dowry by Boltežar the noble Wagen, imperial administrator of the castles of Hošperk by Planina and Šteberk in Cerknica, as well as lord of Kostel Castle near the river Kolpa.
# Suburbs: including the newer developed areas of Arvi, Nandgaon, Sai, Vaswadi and Harangul in the northwest, Wasangaon and Gangapur in the west, Kava, Kanheri and Khopegaon in the southwest, Babhalgaon in the southeast, Kolpa in the east, and Malwati and Vishwanathpuram in the north.
The area is confined by the Gorjanci and Kočevski Rog mountain ranges in the north and west and the Kolpa River in the south and east, which also forms part of the border between Slovenia and Croatia.
