Lídia Jorge

She married a Portuguese military man, who served in the Portuguese colonies in Africa, and spent six very influential years in Portuguese-speaking Africa, two in Angola (1968–1970) and four in Mozambique (1970–1974), a time that coincided with the latter period of the Portuguese Colonial War in Africa.

Margaret Jull Costa

Margaret Jull Costa was joint-winner of the Portuguese Translation Prize in 1992 for The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa, and was runner-up in 1996 and 2002 for The Relic by Eça de Queiroz and The Migrant Painter of Birds by Lídia Jorge.
