The larger Roman settlements were Sumolecenna (Rottenburg am Neckar), Civitas Aurelia Aquensis (Baden-Baden), Lopodunum (Ladenburg).

He fell into the hands of the insurgents at the action of Ladenburg, but was released just before the fall of Rastatt.
After completion of his Habilitation, Ladenburg became a Privatdozent at Breslau and in 1921 an ausserordentlicher Professor (extraordinarius professor) there.
