With the LC1 already restricted the project was quickly abandoned in 1983, with Lancia building an all-new car to Group C regulations known as the LC2.
Lancia turned their full attention instead to their efforts in the World Rally Championship.

Unable to challenge further for the Constructors or Drivers Championships, the team did not attend the final round of the year at Sandown Park in Melbourne, Australia.

Wollek and Nannini led at mid-race after battles with the Kremer Porsche of Vern Schuppan and Alan Jones, only for problems with the gearboxes on both cars to lose the team their lead.

Lancia was also involved in sportscar racing since 1979 with the Monte Carlo model, followed by the LC1 and LC2 prototypes; Lancia won the World Championship for Makes in 1981 and the program continued until 1985.
