Her son Laurent de Brunhoff has carried on the family tradition of writing and illustrating Babar books.
The book was the 44th in Beginner Books series, in between B-43: You Will Live Under the Sea (1966) by F. & M. Phleger and B-45: Babar Loses His Crown (1967), by Laurent de Brunhoff.
In 1985 de Brunhoff moved to the United States, living in Middletown, Connecticut with writer and Wesleyan University professor Phyllis Rose.

Laurent de Brunhoff (born August 30, 1925, Paris, France) is an author and illustrator, known primarily for continuing the Babar the Elephant series of children's books, created by his father, Jean de Brunhoff.
