Counter Admiral Aristide Louis Antoine Vallon (July 26, 1826 — March 11, 1897) was born in Le Conquet.
Most sources have cited the information from his autobiography that he was born in 1739 or 1740 in Le Conquet, Brittany to an aristocratic father.
As he fled England in exile, Henry Tudor landed in Le Conquet rather than France due to a storm that blew his ship off course.
He founded the abbaye de Saint Matthieu at Le Conquet and is buried at Locmazhé (Finistère).
He became the captain of Danae and in her suffered a mutiny on 14 March 1800; forty of the crew seized the ship off Le Conquet, Brest.
Owing to the hazardous conditions at sea, the high density of shipping and a number of shipwrecks in recent years, the French authorities have introduced special search and rescue operations which include vessels such as the Abeille Bourbon as well as a number of large lifeboats in the ports of Douarnenez, Camaret, Le Conquet, Molène and Ushant.
