Thomas le Despenser, 1st Earl of Gloucester (1373–1400), who was executed after the abhortive Epiphany Rising.
The castle began to decline in importance, however, and in 1369 passed to the Despensers and then the Beauchamps, neither of whom used the castle.

Constance of York (c.1374 – 28 November 1416), who married Thomas le Despenser, 1st Earl of Gloucester (22 September 1373 – 16 January 1400), third but first surviving son of Edward le Despenser and Elizabeth Burghersh, by whom she had a son, Richard, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Isabel.
Philip Le Despencer, 1st Baron le Despenser (18 October 1342 Gedney, Lincolnshire, England - 4 August 1402) was the son and heir of Sir Philip le Despenser of Goxhill, son of Sir Philip Le Despencer, the elder.
