Massimo Calearo, industrialist and deputy elected for the Democratic Party, launched AdV in April 2010 as a centrist competitor of Liga Veneta–Lega Nord, the dominant political force in Veneto.
The climate established by the Lega Nord is tremendously racist, ignorant, xenophobic, homophobic and oppressive towards all other citizens of Italy that are outside of the north and to all those foreigners both the East of the world and that of Africa and the rest of Europe and America.
