As head of the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel, Laws was responsible for the drafting of all the government legislation which is laid before Parliament.
The Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD), formed in 1996, is a non-profit professional association of directors and former directors of legal research, writing, analysis, and advocacy programs from law schools in the United States, Canada and Australia.
She is presently a Professor in the College of Medicine of the University of the Philippines teaching Medical Jurisprudence and also a Professor in the College of Law of the Pamantasan Ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), and Lyceum of the Philippines University-makati (LPU) teaching Persons and Family Relations and Legal Writing.
