He represented Westmorland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1866 to 1878.
His name became very prominent in the media however following the February 17, 2006 decision of Michael Malley to leave the Conservative caucus in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick leaving Lord with a minority government.
He represented Northumberland County from 1786 to 1792 and Saint John from 1793 to 1795 in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick.
He represented Gloucester County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1830 to 1850 and from 1854 to 1861.
