2 unusual facts about Leon Lett

Leon Lett

Lett graduated from Fairhope High School and received an American football scholarship from Auburn University, but after a low score in the ACT, he had to play two seasons at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi, compiling 141 tackles, 10 sacks, nine pass deflections and three fumble recoveries.

Lett later said he was watching the Jumbotron, and trying to do a "Michael Irvin", where he put the ball out across the goal line.

Jimmie Jones

In 1993 he was part of one of the most famous Thanksgiving football plays, when he blocked a 47-yard field goal attempt from the Miami Dolphins' Pete Stoyanovich, to preserve what seemed an apparent 14-13 victory, but as the ball rolled toward the Cowboys' end zone, Leon Lett kicked the ball and the Dolphins recovered.
