Chic Chocolate (1916 - May 1967) born Antonio Xavier Vaz, was a Goan trumpeter who led a Jazz band at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay and was one of Bombay’s best known jazz musicians.
In 1984, Kubiak won the Democratic nomination for Congress over State Senator Hugh Parmer of Fort Worth but lost the general election to the still serving Republican, Joe Barton, who succeeded Gramm in the House upon Gramm's election to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by John G. Tower.
In 1971, Tower received an SB in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He hence lost again to Briscoe, who carried all but seven counties in his race against the Republican nominee, Jim Granberry, a former mayor of Lubbock, who carried the backing of U.S. Senator John G. Tower.
In 1976, the carillon was rededicated at its present size with the addition of 28 bells from Petit & Fritsen.
In 2012, the Entrepreneurial Management Center was renamed to honor Dr. Leonard H. Lavin, founder of the Alberto-Culver company and a longtime supporter of the Center.
